Security - Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) provides an additional layer of security for your gocron account.

What is Two-Factor Authentication

Two-factor authentication is a security mechanism that requires users to provide two different authentication factors when logging in:

  1. Something you know: Username and password
  2. Something you have: Dynamic verification code generated by an authenticator app on your phone

Enabling 2FA

Step 1: Log in to Your Account

Log in to the gocron management interface using your username and password.

Step 2: Access Security Settings

  1. Click the user menu in the top right corner
  2. Select "Security Settings" or "Account Settings"
  3. Find the "Two-Factor Authentication" option

Step 3: Scan QR Code

  1. Install an authenticator app on your phone (Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator recommended)
  2. Use the authenticator app to scan the QR code displayed on the page
  3. Or manually enter the secret key

Step 4: Verify and Enable

  1. The authenticator app will display a 6-digit verification code
  2. Enter the code on the gocron page
  3. Click the "Enable" button

Tip

Please save the recovery codes securely in case you lose access to your phone

Logging in with 2FA

After enabling 2FA, you need to:

  1. Enter your username and password
  2. Open the authenticator app
  3. Enter the 6-digit code displayed in the app
  4. Click login

Disabling 2FA

If you need to disable two-factor authentication:

  1. Log in to the gocron management interface
  2. Go to security settings
  3. Find the "Two-Factor Authentication" option
  4. Click the "Disable" button
  5. Enter the current verification code to confirm

Recovery Access

If you lose your phone or cannot access the authenticator app:

  1. Use the previously saved recovery codes to log in
  2. Or contact the system administrator to reset your 2FA settings

Best Practices

  • Backup recovery codes: Save recovery codes in a secure location
  • Use reliable authenticators: Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator recommended
  • Regular checks: Periodically verify that 2FA settings are working properly
  • Multi-device backup: You can add the same account to multiple devices
